Important notice: Firearm, ammunition, magazine, suppressor, and accessory laws change frequently and may vary by state, county, city, and other locality. This page describes Pew Emporium’s store policies; it is not legal advice to customers and is not a complete statement of every law. We may decline or cancel any order that we believe cannot be lawfully completed. Customers must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

1. Customer Certification

By placing an order, you certify that:

  • You are the actual purchaser and are not buying for a person who is prohibited from possessing or receiving the item.
  • You are legally permitted to purchase, receive, possess, and use every item in your order at the billing address, shipping address, transfer location, and any other place where the item will be possessed.
  • You have provided complete and accurate information and will provide any identification, permit, license, eligibility certificate, exemption, or other documentation required by Pew Emporium, a receiving dealer, a distributor, or applicable law.
  • You will not export, transfer, resell, or otherwise dispose of an item in violation of law.
  • You understand that payment and an order confirmation do not guarantee acceptance, shipment, or transfer.

False statements, attempted straw purchases, suspected fraud, or attempts to evade a restriction may result in cancellation and may be reported when required or appropriate.

2. Age Requirements

Unless a stricter law or store policy applies:

  • You must be at least 21 years old to order a handgun, handgun ammunition, a receiver/frame, or an NFA-regulated item.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to order a rifle, shotgun, or ammunition intended only for a rifle or shotgun.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to order other regulated products unless federal, state, or local law requires a higher age.

Age may be verified before an order is accepted or shipped. The receiving FFL will make the final determination regarding a firearm transfer.

3. Firearm Orders

Firearms are never shipped directly to a nonlicensee customer. Firearms ordered online must be shipped to a valid Federal Firearms Licensee (“FFL”) selected by the customer, except where a specific lawful procedure applies and Pew Emporium agrees to use it.

Before shipment:

  1. The receiving dealer must provide a current, signed or otherwise verifiable copy of its FFL.
  2. Pew Emporium or its distributor must verify the license and confirm that the item may lawfully be shipped to and transferred by that dealer.
  3. The customer must satisfy all federal, state, and local requirements at the receiving dealer, including identification, forms, permits, waiting periods, background checks, fees, and any required safety or eligibility documentation.

The receiving dealer—not Pew Emporium’s website—makes the final transfer decision. Customers should contact the receiving FFL before ordering to confirm that it will accept the shipment, transfer the specific item, and disclose its fees.

Failed or denied transfers

If a background check is denied, delayed beyond the receiving dealer’s policy, or the receiving dealer refuses or cannot complete the transfer, the firearm remains with the dealer pending lawful return instructions. The customer is responsible for return shipping, dealer fees, and any other non-refundable costs. Any refund is subject to the original item being returned to the authorized sender in new, unfired, unmodified condition and to the cancellation/return provisions below. A denial does not automatically entitle the customer to a full refund.

Inspect before transfer

Customers must inspect the firearm at the receiving FFL before completing the transfer. If the item is damaged, incorrect, or materially different from the order, do not complete the transfer and contact Pew Emporium immediately. Once the transfer is completed, manufacturer warranty procedures and Pew Emporium’s ordinary return rules apply; a transferred firearm generally cannot be returned as ordinary merchandise.

4. Ammunition Orders

Ammunition will be sold only to customers who meet applicable age and eligibility requirements. Adult signature, age verification, carrier restrictions, ground service, identification, permits, or shipment to a licensed dealer may be required.

Pew Emporium does not ship ammunition:

  • To any person prohibited from receiving or possessing it;
  • To any destination where direct shipment is prohibited;
  • To a post office box, freight forwarder, package-reshipping service, or similar intermediary;
  • Outside the United States; or
  • Where the required customer credentials or receiving-dealer information have not been verified.

Orders containing ammunition may be divided into separate shipments and may incur hazardous-material, adult-signature, or carrier surcharges where applicable.

5. Magazines and Feeding Devices

Magazine-capacity and configuration restrictions vary by jurisdiction. Pew Emporium will not ship a magazine or feeding device to a location where its capacity or features are prohibited unless a clearly documented exemption applies and Pew Emporium agrees in writing to honor it.

We do not disassemble, permanently alter, pin, block, or substitute magazines to make an otherwise restricted item compliant unless the product listing expressly says the modification is performed by the manufacturer or an authorized vendor. Firearms supplied with noncompliant magazines may be shipped without the magazine, substituted when inventory and law permit, or canceled. No credit is guaranteed for a removed magazine.

6. Suppressors and Other NFA Items

Suppressors and other items regulated by the National Firearms Act (“NFA”) are sold only where lawful. They will not be released to a nonlicensee until all required federal transfer paperwork has been approved and all applicable requirements have been satisfied.

Depending on the transaction, an NFA item may first be transferred to a qualified dealer in the customer’s state and then transferred to the customer after ATF approval. The customer is responsible for required forms, fingerprints, photographs, responsible-person documentation, taxes or fees, certifications, dealer charges, and state or local requirements.

ATF processing times are estimates and do not create a guaranteed delivery date. Approval by ATF does not override state or local law. NFA orders generally cannot be canceled once transfer paperwork has been submitted, except at Pew Emporium’s discretion and subject to unrecoverable costs and fees.

7. Frames, Receivers, Firearm Parts, and Regulated Accessories

Serialized frames and receivers are treated as firearms and must be shipped to an FFL. Other parts or accessories may also be restricted because of their type, configuration, intended use, or the jurisdiction in which they will be possessed.

Pew Emporium will not ship any product when we know or reasonably believe that the product, its installation, or the resulting configuration would be unlawful. This includes items that may create a prohibited weapon or unlawful magazine configuration. The customer is responsible for confirming compatibility and lawful configuration before purchase and installation.

8. Restricted Destinations and State/Local Review

Pew Emporium applies restrictions using the product, customer credentials, shipping destination, transfer location, current law, distributor rules, and carrier requirements. Restrictions may apply at the state, county, city, ZIP-code, or address level.

The following categories receive additional review and may require shipment to an FFL or other licensee, customer permits or credentials, product substitutions, or cancellation:

  • Firearms subject to a state roster, feature restriction, registration rule, permit-to-purchase rule, waiting period, or enhanced background-check procedure;
  • Ammunition shipped to jurisdictions requiring a seller license, eligibility credential, background check, face-to-face transfer, or delivery through a licensed vendor;
  • Magazines or feeding devices subject to capacity or configuration limits;
  • NFA items and other products prohibited or specially regulated by the destination jurisdiction;
  • Orders to Alaska, Hawaii, United States territories, military addresses, or other destinations with carrier or transportation limitations; and
  • Any order affected by a county, city, municipal, tribal, or other local restriction.

No-shipment destinations

Unless Pew Emporium confirms a lawful exception in writing, we do not ship regulated products:

  • Outside the United States;
  • To freight forwarders, export agents, package-reshipping services, or addresses intended to conceal the ultimate recipient or destination;
  • To a jurisdiction where the item is prohibited;
  • To an address different from the lawful destination required for that product category; or
  • When required documentation cannot be verified.

State-restriction notice

Because laws and product classifications change, Pew Emporium does not represent that any static state list is exhaustive or continuously current. Product-page notices and checkout blocks are informational controls only. An item appearing available online does not mean it is lawful at the customer’s location. Pew Emporium may request additional documents, route an order through a qualified licensee, remove a restricted component, substitute a compliant component with the customer’s approval, or cancel and refund an order.

Customers should consult their state police, attorney general, local law-enforcement agency, receiving FFL, or a qualified attorney before ordering if legality is uncertain.

9. Documentation and Verification

Requested documents must be current, legible, unaltered, and match the purchaser and destination as required by law. Pew Emporium may use third-party services to verify age, identity, address, permits, FFL status, fraud risk, or legal eligibility. Providing documents does not guarantee approval.

We may retain transaction and compliance records for the periods required by law and our record-retention policies. For information about personal data, please review our Privacy Policy.

10. Order Acceptance, Changes, and Cancellation

All orders are offers to purchase and are subject to review and acceptance. Pew Emporium may place an order on hold, request documentation, correct an obvious pricing or listing error, limit quantities, or cancel an order for legal, compliance, safety, inventory, fraud-prevention, distributor, or carrier reasons.

If Pew Emporium cancels an unshipped order because it cannot lawfully be fulfilled, the customer will receive a refund of amounts paid to Pew Emporium for the canceled item, less any clearly disclosed, nonrefundable services already performed or third-party charges already incurred where permitted by law.

Customer-requested cancellations may be subject to a cancellation fee of $50.00. Special-order, allocated, custom, NFA, and distributor-direct items may be non-cancelable once processing begins.

11. Returns and Defective Products

No firearm may be mailed or shipped to Pew Emporium without prior authorization and lawful shipping instructions. Customers must not ship a firearm to an address provided for ordinary merchandise returns.

  • Transferred firearms: Generally final sale after transfer. Manufacturing defects are ordinarily handled under the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Ammunition, primers, powder, and other hazardous or consumable products: Sales final unless incorrect or damaged in transit and accepted for return by Pew Emporium.
  • NFA items, special orders, custom items, and clearance items: Sales Final unless Pew Emporium expressly agrees otherwise.
  • Unopened eligible accessories: Returnable within 15 days subject to prior authorization, inspection, and any disclosed restocking fee.

Shipping charges, transfer fees, background-check fees, permit fees, taxes paid to government agencies, and other third-party charges are nonrefundable unless required by law or caused by Pew Emporium’s error.

12. Shipping, Risk of Loss, and Delivery

Shipping dates are estimates. Orders may be shipped by Pew Emporium or directly by an authorized distributor. Carrier delays, weather, legal review, documentation requests, background checks, and government processing can delay fulfillment.

Adult signature may be required. The customer must not redirect, intercept, or reroute a regulated shipment. Suspected loss, theft, tampering, or damage must be reported immediately to the carrier, receiving dealer, and Pew Emporium. Risk of loss and title pass only as provided by applicable law and the terms governing the particular shipment.

13. Taxes and Fees

Customers are responsible for sales or use tax, transfer fees, background-check fees, permit fees, government taxes, NFA-related charges, carrier surcharges, and other amounts applicable to the transaction. These charges may be collected by Pew Emporium, the receiving dealer, a distributor, a carrier, or a government agency.

14. Export and Sanctions Compliance

Pew Emporium does not accept orders for export through the website. Products may be controlled under United States export, customs, or sanctions laws. Customers may not export, reexport, transfer, or provide a controlled item, technical data, or service to a prohibited destination, person, or end use without all required authorization.

15. Changes to This Policy

Pew Emporium may update this policy when laws, regulations, carrier rules, distributor requirements, or store procedures change. The version posted when an order is reviewed will govern to the extent permitted by law. If a change prevents lawful fulfillment, we may cancel the affected order.
